Festive Felicity : Petersham Nurseries
I’ve wanted to visit Petersham Nurseries for sometime and I’m so glad this weekend provided the perfect opportunity to head over to Richmond for such an adventure. It was the perfect start to the festive season, I’m not overly interested in all things Christmas but I was more than happy to feast upon a delicious lunch and the spirit of things to come.
Petersham Nursery is primarily a garden centre for want of a better description, it is an incredible oasis filled with magic and inspiration and that is no exaggeration! Needless to say it has got my festive juices flowing. There are rows of plants, shrubs, flowers and Christmas trees in the nurseries outside and it is renowned for the gorgeous cafe, tea house and little shop.
We very much enjoyed the menu, seated in a giant green house under a canopy of foliage. I had to chuckle when I realised that me and my fiancée have a common interest in fairy dust and love everything that is sprinkled with it – Petersham definitely has the fairy dust element. We were totally relaxed and in our own little world, I really didn’t want for us to have to leave. I was quite taken by the menus Italian influence so I started with a raw shaved fennel, speck, pomegranate and parmesan salad. I’d never eaten pheasant before so I thought I’d better give it a go for my main. Glad I did, it was rather yummy! For dessert, I went for the seasonal cheese and bilberry jelly. My fellow fairy dust partner went for the panettone and vin santo ice-cream which luckily for us meant we could try both.
It was honestly an afternoon in paradise. We often talk of how much a place or experience can give and I’m still running off the excitement Petersham gave, I would most definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area (or not!)
